Percolator Fuzz

The Percolator Fuzz recreates the Interfax Harmonic Percolator, the obscure 1970s fuzz favored by Steve Albini for its asymmetric, harmonically odd distortion. Comodoro builds it around a 2N404A germanium transistor, the long-discontinued part central to the original circuit's character. Two controls keep it simple: Harmonics sets the amount of gain and distortion, and Volume sets output. The Harmonic Percolator sits between fuzz, overdrive and distortion, with a raw, slightly gated edge and a strong response to pick attack. It runs on 9V DC center-negative, drawing 10mA, hand-assembled in Spain.
