Crazy Horse
Voltage-starved fuzz/distortion with Volume, Fuzz, Filter, Texture and a starve knob.
The Crazy Horse is a hand-wired fuzz and distortion with an unusually deep control set: Volume, Fuzz, Filter and Texture, plus a voltage knob that starves the circuit anywhere from 9 down to about 12 volts of internal supply. Starving the voltage takes it from a gated, compressed, thin-and-fizzy breakup to a thick, ballsy fuzz, so it doubles as a mid-gain overdrive and a saggy, aggressive fuzz depending on the setting. The Filter shapes frequency response and Texture tunes the character of the distortion. It's true bypass, draws 18mA from a standard 9V center-negative supply, and is hand-built by Durham Electronics in Austin, Texas.
