Sea of Japan

Sea of Japan is a faithful take on the original Uni-Vibe, keeping the lamp-and-photocell (LDR) optical design that gives the effect its uneven, throbbing sweep, while modernizing the power supply and reworking the preamp and LFO. Depth, Speed and Level controls set the intensity, rate and output, and a C/V switch chooses between the shallower Chorus mode and the more pronounced Vibrato mode. The optical circuit produces the phase-shifting swirl heard on late-'60s records rather than the cleaner sound of a solid-state phaser. It runs on a standard 9V supply and sits well after fuzz and drive, where the Uni-Vibe was originally used.
