Vibe 2
Compact 1960s-style chorus/vibrato replicating Uni-Vibe circuitry in pedalboard-friendly format with dual-speed footswitching.
The Shin-ei Vibe-2 is a modern recreation of the legendary 1960s Uni-Vibe effect, packing all the power and tone of the larger Vibe-Bro into a compact, pedalboard-friendly enclosure measuring just 5.5 x 4.5 x 1.75 inches. Originally produced by Honey Company Limited in 1968 before the company was absorbed by Shin-ei in 1969, the Uni-Vibe circuit became iconic for its use by Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock and throughout his later career, as well as Robin Trower's psychedelic tones on Bridge of Sighs. The Vibe-2 faithfully replicates the original vintage Uni-Vibe circuitry using high-quality photocells, NOS (New Old Stock) components including ultra-rare Miyama black Chorus-Vibrato switches, and high-grade carbon composition resistors. The circuit delivers the characteristic heavy pulse and deep, throbbing tone of vintage units — the hypnotic combination of chorus, flanger, phaser, and vibrato that creates the unique psychedelic swirl impossible to replicate with other effects. The pedal features dual variable speed controls accessible via a front-panel footswitch, allowing players to instantly jump between two preset speeds without bending down. A rear-mounted True Bypass/Preamp toggle switch offers a choice between modern true-bypass operation or the original Vibe's preamp mode, which routes signal through a warm-coloring preamp circuit (with unity gain at maximum). This compact design makes the Vibe-2 ideal for players chasing authentic Uni-Vibe tone in a modern pedalboard-sized format.
