Deeply Unpleasant Companion
Bass-friendly Shin-Ei FY-2 Companion Fuzz with a clean blend to keep the low end intact.
The Deeply Unpleasant Companion is Fredric Effects' take on the Shin-Ei FY-2 Companion Fuzz, modified for bass players. The FY-2 is the harsh, buzzy 1960s transistor fuzz behind countless garage and psych records, but its stock circuit thins out low frequencies.
This version preserves the low end and adds a clean blend, so the dry signal keeps each note's body and definition while the fuzz sits on top. The result is a raw, characterful transistor fuzz that still tracks under low tunings and on bass, with buffered blend circuitry. Handmade in north London by Tim Webster.
