Chili Pre

The Chili Pre isolates the preamp found in the Boss CE-1 Chorus Ensemble, the input stage prized for the color it adds before any modulation. Here it stands alone as a preamp and boost that runs from a transparent level lift into low-gain break-up as you push the gain. Internally the 9V supply is converted to a higher +14/-13V rail, giving the circuit more headroom than its single-battery footprint suggests and keeping transients clean when hit hard. It's true bypass, works equally with guitar or bass, and is meant to sit on all the time as a tone-sweetener or to drive an amp and the pedals downstream of it.
