Silky Comp SC-1
Neve 33609-inspired compressor—open, breathing squeeze with no coloration. Hand-signed by Hayashi.
Modeled after the character of the Neve 33609, the legendary British studio bus compressor, but translated for guitar. The 33609 influence shows in the release behavior: Free The Tone focused specifically on how release time shapes guitar tone in a band mix, not just how hard it squashes.
Three highly interactive controls: Sustain sets compression depth, Attack shapes transients (fully clockwise engages limiter mode), Level adds makeup gain. Reviewers describe it as "smooth, musical, uncolored" with arpeggios that flow naturally between notes and comping that stays rhythmically sharp. It breathes rather than squashes. Free The Tone claims a proprietary PCB manufacturing process contributes to the smoothness, though they won't disclose details.
Special true bypass routes signal through a single switch contact. Each unit hand-signed by designer Yuki Hayashi. 4mA draw. Discontinued, available through Custom Shop.
