Holy Stain

The Holy Stain was EHX's first multi-effect pedal when it launched in 2008, pairing an all-analog distortion stage with four DSP effects that can mix together or run independently. The Dirt switch selects Clean, Fuzz, or Drive in the analog stage. A Color switch offers three tonal options — Bright, Dark, and Warm — that shape the distortion voicing. The DSP section is selected by the Mode footswitch and includes Room reverb, Hall reverb, pitch shift, and tremolo. Mix balances the distortion and DSP levels; Amount controls the active DSP parameter. Expression pedal input (TRS) can modulate pitch, reverb time, or tremolo rate. True bypass, 100mA. Premier Guitar described it as 'not boutique butter tone, this is rock-n-roll.' Discontinued in 2022.
