Outer Rings
Square-wave ring mod with a second modulation oscillator and Eurorack CV inputs. Beautifully alien.
Adventure Audio's Outer Rings is a ring modulator built around a square-wave carrier oscillator, producing harmonically rich tones that range from subtle metallic shimmer to full-on alien chaos. A second modulation oscillator routes its output to the carrier frequency, opening up slow tidal pitch drifts, audio-rate FM, and everything in between.
Seven knobs and four toggle switches give deep control: Gain, Freq (carrier frequency with CV offset), Strange (symmetry and pitch of the multiplying oscillator), Rate, Mod Depth, and Tilt (blend between post-gain and ring modulation). The toggles set expression mode, waveshape, speed range, and frequency range.
Two CV inputs for carrier and modulation oscillators make it fully compatible with Eurorack systems. Discontinued but still sought after on the used market, with the Outer Rings 2 carrying the torch.
